It's painfully short, but Kanaria's catchy tracks are hard to resist playing on loop. Maybe a bit homogenous, but it makes each track lead into the other easily. Also, GUMI English singing Japanese is just really fun to listen to. It includes debut songs "百鬼祭" and "KING" from his first album KING, and cleverly closes with a response to "KING" in "QUEEN." (Sort of? Most of the lyrics are playful vocalizations)
Kanaria is one of the current VocaPs to find success in the viral formula (lack of a better word). Short compositions with immediate hooks and shorter and punchy choruses, free karaoke distribution, music videos with static but striking character illustrations that are both memorable and easy to replicate, and a vague "child prodigy" background. Collaborations with huge musicians and illustrators like Nou, who has provided illustrations for Kairiki Bear, Yunosuke, and Waka, also strengthen his ties to the community. These decisions may not be to everyone's tastes but they are extremely effective at reaching a massive audience. He's worth keeping an eye out for imo.
